DPSCD Elementary Chess Teams Shine at States

There were 8 teams from DPSCD who attended the 2022 State Elementary Chess Championships at Cass Tech on Saturday, February 5th, sponsored by the Michigan Chess Association. Bates Academy, Brenda Scott, Bunche Preparatory Academy, Carleton, Dixon Education Learning Academy, Edmonson, Greenfield Union Elementary & Middle and Priest Elementary & Middle all represented DPSCD with pride and dedication!

Many of our teams did very well and placed in the top 10 in the state of Michigan. Trophies and special recognition were given to the following DPSCD schools -

3rd Place in the K3 Championship Section
7th Place in the K6 Championship Section
Max Rogan, 6th Grade, received the Bronze Medal

Bates Academy

5th Place in the K6 Championship Section
Caleb Benning, 6th Grad, received the Silver Medal

Dixon Education Learning Academy

5th Place in the K5 Under 400 Section
Trintyn Chambers received the Silver Medal

Priest Elementary & Middle

6th Place in the K5 Under 400 Section
