Office of the General Counsel

The mission of the Office of the General Counsel ("OGC") is to provide skillful, efficient and comprehensive legal guidance and representation to all facets of the Detroit Public Schools Community District (the "District"). OGC staff is committed to protecting the legal rights of students, staff and the District as a whole pursuant to District policies, procedures and administrative guidelines and local, state and federal law. OGC attorneys represent and counsel clients on matters of school law, general and commercial litigation, student discipline, school and municipal finance, labor and employment, legislation and policy, partnerships, real estate and other legal issues that arise in the course of day-to-day operations. OGC staff members also serve as the District's FOIA Coordinator and FOIA Attorney.
