Fall 2023 Admissions

Detroit Public Schools Community District offers a variety of specialty, application-based schools and programs that offer students unique learning experiences. Offerings include Gifted and Talented, Foreign Language Immersion, Aviation, Science and Medicine, Fine and Performing Arts, African-Centered Education, Single-Gender Education and more. Students who attend our Application Schools excel in critical and creative thinking and thrive in settings where they can explore their passions.

Montessori Pre-K is Full

Due to the high number of applications for Montessori Pre-K during Round 1, Feb. 6-26, 2023, we are no longer accepting applications. All seats have been filled and waitlists are in effect.
The District is currently accepting applications for its non-Montessori pre-K classrooms. To learn more, please visit our Great Start Readiness Program web site.

Waitlists in Effect

The following schools/grade levels are full and accepting applicants for waitlist spots. There may be movement on the waitlists, so we encourage applicants to apply by the end of Round 3, which concludes on April 30, 2023.

Montessori
Edison: Pre-K and Kindergarten
Edmonson: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 4th, 5th and 6th grades
Palmer Park: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 2nd grade

Exam Schools
Academy of the Americas: 5th grade
Bates: 1st and 2nd grade
Chrysler: grades 1-3
FLICS: 6th grade
The School at Marygrove: Kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grades
