A Spotlight on Legendary Academic Games Coach, Christopher Holstein

Congratulation messages to Christopher Holstein

Please help the Office of STEM Enrichment send a big thank you to DPSCD teacher and Academic Games Coach, Christopher Holstein for his amazing dedication and love for our students and Academic Games! Coach Holstein is celebrating his 45th year as an Academic Games Coach and we could not be more proud and honored to have him as a part of the DPSCD family.

Here is a small piece from the story written by the Detroit Free Press on March 31st in honor of Coach Holstein:

“The enthusiasm for learning in Detroit is right up there with everyone else,” said Holstein, who two years ago was surprised to find about 450 people — including former Academic Games players and students, some from out of town — waiting for him in the Bates cafeteria in honor of his 50th anniversary as a classroom teacher in Detroit. “We have kids that are very self-motivated and want to do well, and if you have some influence on that, it makes you feel good. That’s why I keep teaching and coaching Academic Games.”

We appreciate Coach Holstein for continuing to display our important core value of keeping students first. Please read the full Detroit Free Press article on Coach Holstein here: Detroit educator, Academic Games coach Christopher Holstein still 'quintessential' teacher
