We are proud to announce that the DPSCD Office of Charter Schools was accredited by Cognia formerly AdvancED in June 2019.

Charter Schools

A charter school authorizer since 1994, Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is currently an Accredited Authorizer of seven (7) Public School Academies (PSA) that serve students in a variety of settings and models from kindergarten through high school. Detroit Public Schools Community District issues contracts with charter schools and monitors them to ensure they are financially sound, meet their academic goals and follow state and federal requirements.

The elected and empowered DPSCD Board of Education votes on whether the schools will remain authorized by the District.
