Experience HBCU

HBCU Experience
  • Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) have been empowering, encouraging, and challenging African American students since the inception of The Institute of Colored Youth in Cheyney, Pennsylvania in 1837. Because Detroit Public Schools Community District is the largest urban school district in the state of Michigan, we want to ensure that we expose our students to all post-secondary education options, including HBCU's. Experience HBCU's is a district-wide initiative created and designed to inform students of the many benefits, programs, experiences, and opportunities that the 100 + HBCU's have to offer. Topics including scholarships, financial aid, career options and more will be covered through virtual events throughout the school year.
