Descriptions of Afternoon Enrichment Programs

3D Dance Academy
3D Dance Academy will provide dance instruction to students. Training in various dance/cheer/majorette/tumbling techniques.

At Bat
At Bat summer baseball camp will teach students the fundamentals of baseball, how to properly throw, catch, hit, and play different fielding positions. Students will gain a better understanding of basic baseball rules and regulations, enabling them to engage in a fun baseball game among their peers.

BLUCAR
Blucar provides high-quality STEAM programs/recreational activities to students in grades K-12 (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Our multi-faceted programs are tailored to meet the needs of students of all ages and expose them to various fields that will help foster their abilities to grow as young scholars in the city of Detroit.

Camp Dinner Table
Camp Dinner Table is an interactive, educational food program where students learn basic cooking and food presentation skills combined with kitchen and hygiene safety.

Catapult Learning
An enriching summer program, Catapult’s Summer Journey can improve students’ foundational skills and expand their knowledge and problem-solving abilities, all while reducing summer learning loss. The enrichment sessions, including STEM courses, are designed to provide project-based learning that builds students’ communication and social skills, enhances leadership skills, and encourages students’ creativity.

DAPCEP
DAPCEP STEM Week is a program designed to highlight the connection between academic subjects learned in school and the application of learned content in STEM fields. STEM Weeks bridge the gap between traditional instruction and application with immersive experiences and hands-on activities that both expose students to a wide array of topics and increase their awareness of how STEM academic concepts are applied in the real-world.

Detroit PAL Cheer
Detroit PAL Cheer will provide a program is focused on teamwork, health, nutrition, spirit and sportsmanship, life lessons and leadership while learning proper technique for the Sport of Cheer. Participants will learn proper techniques for jumps, arm motions, tumbling, flex skills, and team bonding.

Detroit PAL Chess
Students will learn the following information concerning chess:
- The nomenclature of the chessboard.
- The chess notation symbols and how to record chess games.
- The names, point values, movement, and capturing abilities of each chess piece.

Detroit PAL Drone Apprenticeship Afterschool Program (D.A.P.)
Detroit PAL Drone Apprenticeship Afterschool Program (D.A.P.) introduces students to the fun and exciting world of drone skills challenge competition. The students will be trained to compete against each other testing their piloting & programming skills. The program will operate competitions in the areas of:
- Drone Racing (Line of Sight)
- Drone Search & Rescue (FPV)
- Programming Flight Patterns (Using Scratch Programming Language)

Detroit PAL Volleyball
Each participant will learn how to serve, pass (bump or set), teamwork, floor communication, resilience, and discipline

Developing K.I.D.S.
Developing K.I.D.S. will engage youth in activities that include art, dance, recreation and STEM. The youth experience will strengthen their skills in leadership, conflict resolution, life skills, and team building.

Diversified Community Services
DCS will provide students with Structured Recreational Activities with opportunities to participate in coordinated athletic, recreational, health/wellness, and team-building activities; Drama to experience the excitement and rewards of theatre arts while developing poise, social-emotional skills, confidence, and the ability to work with others and Drone Apprenticeship to learn hands-on technical skills.

Enrich Kids Now
Youth Enrichment Services offers fun and exciting classes that are designed to strengthen student discipline, self-esteem, and teamwork while introducing new concepts in performing arts, fitness and life skills. We will be offering the following classes for the upcoming session Hip Hop Dance, HBCU Step, Acting, Entrepreneurship and College Readiness.

Franklin Wright
The Franklin Wright Settlements' Summer Enrichment Program is a program carefully curated to create, inspire, and empower future leaders, thinkers, and influencers of the community. In this program, we build valuable workplace and life skills in diverse enrichment activities such as STEM/STEAM, reading, cosmetology, coding, financial literacy, digital media, mentoring, arts and culture, social-emotional learning, and more.

Girl Scouts of Michigan
In this dynamic, hands-on summer program, girls will learn how to market girl scout cookies to each other, learn stress management and self-care skills, and engage with nature and outdoor experiences, including creating their own model car! Our four-week program will culminate with a trip to the Outdoor Adventure Center to learn about all of the outdoor opportunities that Detroit has to offer!

Leeland Community Affairs
Leland Community Affairs, Inc will engage youth in hands on-take home, and/or showcase STE(A)M projects and activities based on NASA real-world earth and outer-space challenges. Activities include building and/or designing the astronaut's uniform, building the best space rockets, measuring the distance of a planet using string, ribbon, toilet tissue (if still available) and having lots of fun performing the egg drop experiment., plus lots more activities as designed by the NASA GLENN Research Center.- Leland's collaborative partner.

Living Arts
Living Arts offers creative and fun summer programs in the visual, performing, and media arts featuring opportunities in theater, animation, beat-making, dance, 2-D arts, and 3-D arts. Youth will use their creative voice and express their full range of emotions in healthy ways, using imagination and creativity. Youth are invited to explore and expand their artistic skills with the partnership of professional Living Arts Teaching Artists.

Motor City Dance Academy
Motor City Street Dance Academy (MCSDA) is a hip-hop dance organization which will provide workshops on breakdancing, Detroit Jit, DJing, beat making, art, podcast, and livestreaming. MCSDA enriches students' physical, social, and emotional wellbeing by exploring dance, art, and music within hip-hop culture.

No Fear Café
No Fear Cafe offers an engaging learning program that inspires students to learn, practice, and master math, science, and creative art competencies through playful, hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) with maximum impact on student outcomes. With social-emotional learning integrated daily, students enjoy our STEAM Plus program which includes STEM challenges, art projects, science experiments, and fitness enrichment.

Piper
During our Piper Summer Enrichment program, students will build basic circuits and their own game controller and learn to code LEDs, games, and more, all while following engaging character-driven narratives. Learn the fundamentals of electrical engineering and computer science with Piper Make, our integrated hardware and software solution to inspire the next generation of inventors and creators.

Sound Mind Sound Body
Sound Mind Sound Body sports academy will provide College recruiting and skill development for DPSCD students in football , basketball, volleyball, ESPORTS (gaming), golf, softball, tennis, baseball and cheerleading. Students will attend instructional sessions on and off the playing field/court while also attending weekly camps and competitive summer league.

Teen Hype
Teen HYPE will provide two distinctive summer enrichment opportunities: 1) middle school youth receive: HYPE'd Up Real Essentials relationship readiness series to reduce conflict, enhance confidence and social skills or 2) high school youth receive: HYPE'd up Hats and Ladders interactive work readiness series. Both enrichment opportunities include core curriculum, youth incentives, a closing celebration, and outcome data.

The Lawn Academy
Students will learn Urban Design and Landscape Architecture from industry leaders and help beautify their campus for the start of school. All students will learn Financial Literacy concepts from industry-leading Money Management professionals and the steps needed to start their own businesses.

The S.O.N.G Project
The S.O.N.G. Project will provide vocal, dance, theater, drumline, and piano programs to the students of DPS. Our primary goal for each student is to increase their skill and confidence within their selected course.

The Yunion
The Yunion will offer a suite of youth development programs that facilitate social-emotional learning. Programs include STEM Drone and Coding courses, Performing Arts (dance, beat-making, drama, and song-writing), and innovative culturally relevant Life Skills and Prevention classes that equip and empower participants to make healthy choices.

University Instructors provides academic recovery instructional support programming as well as EPIC enrichment activities for summer. Our direct student programs and services help to serve all students during summer for all needs.

Urban Neighborhood Initiatives
UNI will engage youth grades Kindergarten to 5th grade in programming focusing on further developing social-emotional skills and providing enrichment activities. Staff will facilitate fun enriching activities that will focus on art, STEAM, and reading to support activities that mitigate summer learning loss.

YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit (Managing Partner)
- Y Nourish - Food and Fun is centered around nutrition education, activities, and taste tests that will introduce students to new healthy foods with a focus on local fruits and vegetables. Sessions will be 60 minutes and during that time students will participate in a taste test and/or easy, healthy snack recipes that are replicable at home and budget savvy. Primarily focuses on ages 5-13.
- Teen Achievers - Achiever Summer Camp- Is a bridge preparation program for 8th grade students. The Achievers curriculum is based on Five Pillars: Academics, College/Career Knowledge, Positive Relationships, Life Skills, and Positive Identify. Programming will be based on youth voice and help to support youth going into the 8th grade and create an awareness around high school expectations through creative engagement activities, experimentation and dialogue.
- SportPort - Facilitates 90-minute sports sampling/free play sessions to youth in grades K-8 for five weeks of programming. During programming, youth are encouraged to participate in sports sampling as well as games and activities that promote the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and inclusion.
- Y Arts - Y Media Works is an Introduction to Media Production. Class sessions would be 60-90 mins and are geared toward grades 6-8. Youth will explore social media, photography, careers, using their voice, and the full creative process of media.
- Y Arts- Visual Arts (painting, drawing, etc.) in 60-90 min segments, taught by two teaching artists working together. Youth will explore self-expression and creativity through visual art projects that stimulate both cognitive and social skill development.
- Camp Girls on the Run Detroit: Girls on the Run Detroit (GOTRD) summer program provides girls in grades 3-5 the opportunity to build friendships in a fun and inclusive setting that includes interactive games, being physically active, and expressing creativity through art & crafts and storytelling. Led by caring and qualified coaches, Camp GOTRD provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for girls to develop self-confidence, and learn life skills they can use now and as they grow.
YMCA summer programming for students K-8 will consist of options based on youth interest that include: SEL and STEAM enrichment (infused activities/projects), youth sports (Sportport and Camp Girls on the Run), swimming/drowning prevention (Safety Around Water), nutrition education (Snacktivities/healthy eating), the Arts (Media and visual), personal skill set development and high school preparedness- 8th grade (Achievers), and mental health/behavior support.
