PURPOSE

This assessment calendar outlines all required national, state, and District assessments for the upcoming school year. As we continue to provide improved 1-to-1 device access and shift assessments to online formats, we will be structuring and consistently aligning our administration dates across both state and District to minimize disruptions to instructions and improve overall assessment data quality, comparability, and use. Because national and state assessment requirements may change throughout the year, this calendar will be updated as needed.

IMPORTANT FEATURES

Flexibility as Needed

This calendar includes all national, state, and district assessments. The Detroit Board of Education recognizes that assessments may be canceled and rescheduled as needs arise. Historically, these have included the need for additional testing dates to accommodate students and families, changes made by State and National testing entities, and more.

Shifting Towards Targeted Administration Dates

As the District continues to support 1-to-1 access to student devices, schools will be able to more consistently administer assessments on designated days. As a result, our schools will consistently administer the same assessments on the same days, which minimizes disruptions to learning and makes it easier for Detroit families to become familiar with one common assessment calendar.

Adjusting BOY and EOY Assessments to Support New Academic Calendar
