• The Investigative Operations Section (IOS) of the Detroit Public Schools Community District Police Department (DPSCD-PD) consists of plainclothes Detectives tasked with conducting a broad range of investigative assignments. Detectives are required to assume responsibility for all misdemeanor and felony cases where a follow-up investigation is deemed necessary by the IOS supervisor.

    The IOS is responsible for processing crime scenes, collecting and preserving property and evidence, interrogation, and investigating computer and forensic crimes by monitoring illegal activity committed online and through other electronic means. Additionally, Detectives also prepare paperwork for criminal proceedings, submit warrant requests to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, and testifies in a court of law.
