The Patrol Operations Section of the Detroit Public Schools Community District Police Department (DPSCD-PD) consists of sworn law enforcement officers who are fully licensed through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). The DPSCD Police Officers are tasked with monitoring specified school areas within the city of Detroit, to protect students, staff, and assets at 106 schools and District facility sites. Patrol officers provide service 24-hours, 7-days a week; which allows coverage to effectively deliver responsive policing services in a school environment.
The DPSCD Police Officers assigned to Patrol Operations are responsible for:
- Responding to calls for service
- Resolving disputes
- Taking crime reports
- Conducting traffic enforcement in school zone areas
- Maintaining a safe and secure learning environment
- Taking proactive approaches to crime prevention measures
- Building relationships with students, staff, and parents.
