All Schools Open House Prepares Students for First Day of School

The DPSCD annual Back to School Expo will be hosted at all school locations this Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This is an opportunity for families to visit their neighborhood schools, meet the staff and pick up valuable resources. If families have not yet enrolled, solidified transportation or identified their child’s school, Saturday is the time to pick the perfect DPSCD school for your child. In addition, DPSCD will be participating in Neighborhood’s Day with ARISE Detroit! This annual community-wide beautification day will be an opportunity for volunteers to beautify your neighborhood schools. You must register and bring your own supplies, we know when everyone does their part, students rise.

The District will offer an array of elements across its various school locations, including school tours; nurses will be on-hand at Mumford High School and Brenda Scott to administer vaccinations, while dental partners will provide services at a variety of schools. Team members from Stellantis will be at Southeastern High School providing families with information on its partnership in the school’s Advanced Manufacturing Career Technical Academy.

Whether you are a DPSCD family or a prospective family, all are welcome to enjoy activities that range from free food (healthy snacks as well as pizza and hot dogs) to fun and giveaways (while supplies last). For more information, visit detroitk12.org/backtoschoolexpo.
