In order to provide the safest environment possible for our students, teachers and staff while in DPSCD buildings, the District will reinstitute the safety elements from its Return to Learn plan when Learning Centers reopen on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Safety Procedures in Place for Your Child at the Learning Centers on Feb. 24

• Daily symptom and temperature checks for students and staff.
• Employee COVID-19 testing.
• Required use of masks for students, teachers, and all staff. If a student does not have a mask, one will be provided for them.
• Safety directives and reminder signage throughout all school buildings.
• Desks that are placed 6ft apart to encourage social distancing in classrooms.
• Hand sanitizing stations.
• Deep cleaning of Learning Center classrooms and buildings.
• Administrative checks on cleaning results and regular review of procedures.
• Deep cleaning, masks, and social distance seating on school buses.
• Contracted nurse on duty at each school.
• Limiting access to schools by the public
• Isolation areas for students who feel ill.
• As an added safety measure, DPSCD families are encouraged to monitor your children’s health at home prior to sending them to a district Learning Center. If your child is ill, keep them at home until they feel better.

DPSCD Learning Centers Provide Direct Support to Families

The reopening of our Learning Centers on Wednesday, Feb. 24 means DPSCD families, who need schools open in some capacity, will have an option. Your child can login to online learning instruction, eat breakfast and lunch and receive direct support from school-based personnel. A note to students and families:

• Students are to bring in their loaner devices to use at school and take back home daily.
• Students are not to bring their Connected Futures devices; the school will provide a loaner device for students at our Learning Centers. Students can use their Connected Futures devices at home.

Learning Centers Staffed by School-Based Personnel

The Learning Centers will be supported by district and school-based administrators, clerical staff, paraeducators, educational aides, culture facilitators, and substitute teachers. This was the same operational model used by DPSCD at the start of the 20-21 school year.
