    Are you passionate about ensuring safety, transparency, and accountability in our school district's law enforcement practices? DPSCD is looking for the best candidates to help make a positive impact on our Police Oversight Committee.

    About the Committee
    The Police Oversight Committee is dedicated to overseeing the conduct and practices of the Detroit Public Schools Community District police force. Our mission is to build trust between the community and law enforcement by promoting transparency, accountability, and fairness. As a committee member, you will review police activities, address complaints, and recommend improvements to enhance our district’s safety and community relations.

    Key Responsibilities
    Review and Assess: Evaluate police reports, complaints, and investigations related to school district incidents.
    Provide Recommendations: Offer recommendations for policy changes and improvements to enhance DPSCD police practices.
    Community Engagement: Foster communication between the community, students, parents, and law enforcement.
    Promote Transparency: Ensure that police activities within the school district are conducted transparently and fairly.

    Qualifications
    A strong commitment to justice, fairness, and community service.
    Excellent communication and analytical skills.
    The ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
    Experience in education, law, public safety, or community advocacy is a plus, but not required.
    Residency within Detroit is required.
