Celebrating Peace Day at DPSCD

In a world where conflict often dominates the narrative, the International Day of Peace reminds us that the pursuit of peace is a fundamental human right. Peace Day, observed globally on Saturday, September 21, serves as a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to foster harmony and understanding in our communities.

“We invite all DPSCD students, families, and staff to join us in celebrating Peace Day and participating in the "Keep the Peace" rallies. Your presence and engagement are crucial in making these initiatives successful. Let's work together to create a culture of peace and understanding in our schools and communities.” Chief Labrit Jackson

This year, the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is taking extraordinary steps to celebrate Peace Day. The DPSCD Office of Public Safety, Gang Intel Unit, and community partner Detroit Friends and Family, will not limit their celebration to just one day. Instead, they will dedicate the month of September to promoting peace through a series of "Keep the Peace" rallies across various schools.

To kick off this month-long celebration where DPSCD chooses peace over conflict, officers and community partners will visit several schools to conduct impactful rallies. By bringing together law enforcement and community members, DPSCD is fostering an environment of mutual respect and collaboration. Here's a look at the schedule:
