2023 State of the Schools Address

Detroit Public Schools Community District is Michigan’s largest public education system. We are governed by a locally-elected, seven-member board with Dr. Nikolai Vitti serving as superintendent. We champion a whole-child approach that combines superior academics with socio-emotional, extracurricular, and health services tailored to each student's needs.

In his 2023 State of the Schools address, Dr. Nikolai Vitti, DPSCD Superintendent, highlights how the district's strategic priorities are positioning students for long-term success. Through his tenure as Superintendent, the District has experienced significant gains, improvement, and growth while laser-focused on ensuring sustainable outcomes.

What we know for sure is that the future state of this district is only bolstered by the commitment of all stakeholders, educators, staff, the business community, our neighborhoods, legislators, and parents doing their parts to help students rise.
