Black History Month Student Expression Contest

During Black History Month, DPSCD students are encouraged to participate in the Student Expression Contest, which asks students to submit an original work around the theme: BLACK HISTORY MONTH: IDENTITY, REPRESENTATION, AND DIVERSITY.

Submissions must be student’s original works and can be in any medium – video, written, pictures. Submissions should reflect the theme and include student’s name, grade, school.

All submissions should be sent to beth.pacifco@detroitk12.org by February 23, 2021.

Students will be scored on overall creativity and originality, connection to the theme, and overall appearance/neatness. Winners will be announced Friday, February 26, 2021. CONTESTANTS The first 100 students to submit work will receive a free membership to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

Prizes will be given for First, Second, and Third place to students in the following grade bands: Grades K- 4, 5 - 8, and 9 – 12.
