Supporting the Transition to Online Learning
DPSCD Families and Students, The District announced Thursday, November 12, face to face classes and learning centers are temporarily suspended.
All classes will be held online starting Monday, November 16, due to the rapid increase in the COVID-19 infection rate in Detroit. As a courtesy to families, learning centers can be used on Monday if adjustments to childcare can not be made over the weekend. The suspension of face to face learning will continue until January 11, 2021. If positive rates in the city improve then the District will consider reopening learning centers before that date. This decision was made in collaboration with the City’s health department.
For families who are transitioning to online, you will find important directions on how to Meet Us Online Monday and beyond in the newsletter HERE. On Monday, your child's teacher will be engaged in professional development and will be transitioning to the full online classroom Tuesday. As a result, your child will spend the day on a modified schedule with alternative instruction. We are committed to supporting your Students Rise as we continue to deliver education and instruction during this pandemic. We thank you for your support!
