Apply for Summer School Options!

DPSCD Families,

We are in the process of planning for a combination of possible face to face learning opportunities (assuming the Safe at Home Order is lifted) for students and distance learning this summer from Monday, July 13th through Thursday, August 6th.We are looking to expand last year’s summer offerings to provide students with more opportunities to learn and fill learning gaps since school closures.

If we are able to provide face to face summer instruction then we will develop plans to address the possibility of the following health and safety assurances, including employee COVID testing, daily temperature checks, small class sizes to ensure social distancing, limited movement in the building, classroom breakfast and/or lunch, daily cleaning of classrooms, access to masks/gloves, sanitization stations, limited access to schools from the public, a dedicated “isolation area” for anyone who feels sick, and access to a fully stocked restroom for students based on their position in the building.

The following programs will be offered either face-to-face or virtually from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at select school sites. All programs are in the planning phases and will only be offered if the response from parents indicates that there is interest and enough teachers to provide face to face instruction and/or online learning from home. For those registering to attend face-to-face summer school, transportation will be available, but pick-up and drop-off times may be staggered to ensure social distancing is maintained on buses.

Academic Enrichment: Students in Kindergarten through 8th grades will be offered the opportunity to participate in daily academic activities in literacy and math.

Course & Grade Recovery: Students in 6ththrough 12th grades will be offered an opportunity to make-up a course(s) needed for promotion or graduation.

High School Acceleration: Students in 9th through 11th grades will be offered an opportunity to take a virtual course from a limited set of course options, through Edgenuity, that is required for graduation.
