Pershing Class of 2019 is Pursuing Greatness

From universities to paid internships, Pershing High School students Angel Humphries, Malik Shaw, Tianna Carr and Tayveon Smith are paving the way to be the next legacies from Detroit’s east side. Give these grads a shout out on social media by tagging @Detroitk12 and #studentsrise 

Angel Humphries

Post-graduation plan: Angel will attend Wayne State University participating in a research fellowship. She plans to major in either psychology or neuroscience. She was accepted to Michigan State, University of Michigan-Flint, Ferris State and Xavier University.

Tianna Carr

Post-graduation plan: Tianna will attend Oakland County Community College through a Detroit Promise Scholarship; she plans to transfer to College for Creative Studies to earn her bachelor’s degree. She is interested in studying architecture.

Malik Shaw

Post-graduation plan: Malik is deciding between Henry Ford Community College and Macomb Community College. He plans to explore career pathways through his college classes. This summer he is participating in a Construction Going Pro paid internship through the Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG) program. He will be completing HVAC training with the possibility for an apprenticeship job after completion.

Tayveon Smith –  Pershing Valedictorian Class of 2019

Post-graduation plan: Tayveon will attend Central State University in the fall with plans to major in business. He hopes to pursue entrepreneurism in his future. Tayveon was accepted to Ferris State University, Oakland University, Xavier University and Eastern Michigan University.
