The District offers a wide variety of programs to nurture your child's interests and talents. In addition to neighborhood schools that offer art and/or music and a challenging curriculum, we offer specialty programs (Application & Montessori Schools), Examination High Schools, and Career and Technical Centers.
How do I enroll?
We are still enrolling students for the 2020/21 school year! Follow the three easy steps listed on the right to enroll in a Detroit Public Schools Community District school or visit your school of choice during school hours.
Please note that our Exam and Application schools and programs require students to be accepted through an application process before enrolling.

Request an enrollment packet by mail
Complete the online survey to request enrollment packet(s) by mail. Once complete, do not mail. Packets must be returned to the school site or dropped off in a drop box.

Pick up an enrollment packet
You may pick up an enrollment packet at your school of choice or any of our drop box locations. Click here to find the nearest drop box location.

Step 2: Gather your enrollment documents

What documents are required?
The following documents are required in addition to the completed and signed enrollment forms. They should be provided before the child's first day of school but must be submitted no later than 30 days from the first day. Please do not submit student birth record, parent/guardian ID and proof of address via the Drop Boxes. To submit this paperwork, please visit your school of choice.
- Parent/Guardian photo ID
- Student's birth certificate or birth record
- Student's immunization record or waiver
- Student's most recent transcript or report cards
- Two forms of proof of address
If your child has an IEP or 504 plan, please include a copy with your documents.

Step 3: Submit your enrollment material

Visit your school of choice during normal school hours
You may visit one of our neighborhood schools at anytime during normal school hours to enroll. Enrollment in Exam and Application schools is only available for students who have gone through the application process and been accepted by that school. Upload a digital enrollment packet online
Forms can be printed, or completed on your device. If completing online, please download and save the forms to your device before filling them out.
A parent or legal guardian will be required to complete and sign all enrollment forms.

Visit one of our drop box locations
