    Exam High Students Apply Today

     At this time, we are only accepting applications for The School at Marygrove. Applications may be submitted until 11:59 p.m. Monday July 20. The Examination High School second round application closedfor all other schools on June 29. If you are interested in applying to an examination high school for next year, you may complete our Interest Survey to receive a notification when the application opens for fall 2021.

    Examination Schools

    Detroit Public Schools Community District offers enrollment in five selective admission high school programs, which offer rigorous college preparation, career preparation, competitive athletics programs and inspiring arts programs. Students are required to take an examination for admission consideration.

    Who can apply to an Examination High School?

    Eighth grade students attending public and non-public schools are eligible to apply for admission to 9th grade.

    Current high school students may also apply for limited openings in grades 10-12. 

    The next application will be available in October 2020.

    Application Process

    Applications will be conducted electronically only. No paper applications will be accepted. See the Application Requirements and Application Assistance pages for more information.

    Placement Exam Information

    The examination high school placement exam is a critical element of the application process. Every applicant must complete the placement exam for admissions consideration for one of the District's examination high schools.

    Round 1 Accepted Applicants: What’s Next?

    The deadline for submission of all enrollment forms has been extended to Friday, June 5, 2020. You will be required to submit all documents by that date. Please note, you will still be required to bring your original birth certificate to the school.

    Once the governor’s Stay Home, Stay Safe order has been lifted, additional directions for safely submitting the paper documents will be sent to you via Submittable if you choose to submit your enrollment forms that way.

    Uploading enrollment documents

    Applicants who were accepted to any of the five Examination High Schools may submit their enrollment documents electronically.

    An Enrollment Submission Form has been added to your Submittable Account. Please follow these instructions to access your Enrollment Submission Form:

    1. Log into your Submittable account using this link.
    2. Click “Submissions” from the top menu
    3. Under the tab “All Submissions”, click on your name
    4. Click on the tab “Enrollment Forms”
    5. Fill out the documents and upload the required items
    6. Important: click "Submit" when complete 

    The form will be auto-saved occasionally, so you will be able to complete portions of the form and return at a later time without losing your progress. 
    You may also scroll to the bottom of the form and click "Save Draft" to ensure that your progress has been saved.
