The goal of Parent Academy is to provide parents the tools and skills to build capacity and confidence to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. All classes are free and offered in convenient locations to meet parents where they are. Parent Academy focuses on three key pillars: Student Achievement, Personal and Professional Development, and Parenting/Advocacy.

10:00 AM SESSION 1: PREPARING MY STUDENT TO READ BY GRADE 3 PRESENTED BY: TAYLOR WHITE - OFFICE OF LITERACY In this session, parents/ caregivers will receive an overview of the Read by Grade 3 Law, the District Requirements, and their rights as a parent/ caregiver. They will also dig into what it means to be “proficient in reading” by third-grade and will discover how reading skills build from Kindergarten to third-grade. Parents/caregivers will end their time exploring some at-home games and resources they can use with their scholar to help build their reading skills.
