Cass Tech High School
Founded in 1907, Cass Technical High School is the largest Detroit Public Schools Community District school currently serving over 2400 students in grades 9 – 12. Cass Tech is a city-wide, college-preparatory, examination-entry school of choice located in the heart of Detroit. Cass Tech is within walking distance of the city’s sports and entertainment venues. We are part of the economic epicenter of the city. We bring a rich, documented history of educational success via a curriculum-based program of study. Our vision is based on the belief that all students can succeed and achieve at local, state, national and international competitive levels.
Demographically, our student population is 85% African American as well as a diverse population of students of Bengali, Hispanic/Latino, Arabic, Asian, and Caucasian descent. This demographic is reflective of the community at-large. The instructional staff also reflects a similar ethnic diversity. Cass Tech attracts its student population from the city of Detroit as well as the larger tri-county metropolitan area. Our students come to us with a wide range of abilities, talents, and skill-levels. Our success is anchored in collaborative, solution-driven decision-making which is inclusive of all stakeholders. We created a strategic plan based on best practices to ensure improved student achievement and school success.

Cass Technical High School is an International Baccalaureate World School in the City of Detroit with a 97 percent graduation rate, earning over $120 million dollars annually in academic scholarships. Cass received an A rating from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Cass Tech bears the distinction of being an MDE Reward School for three consecutive years, Best High Schools Bronze Medalist by the US News & World Report, and five-time recipient of the Best High School by the Ford Neighborhood Awards. Through its dual enrollment program, seniors simultaneously graduate with an associate degree and high school diploma.
