Mr. Jorge Martinez-Estrada

Jorge Martinez-Estrada was born in Manzanillo, Cuba. From a very young age, he practiced sports: swimming, judo, karate, and made it to the national team of the first one. He likes to dance, play chess, and have won several contests on both. He attended a University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He taught English in high school for six years. Then he went to work in tourism as an entertainer. Thanks to that position, he got a chance to travel to Germany, The Netherlands, and United States, where he has been living since 2001. His first year here he worked in a factory, making parts for tractors. Then he started working in education. He taught English and Spanish in Winans Academy of Performing Arts, Edison Public School, and Cesar Chavez High School. He also taught English as a Second Language to parents while working for Southwest Solutions. For the last five years, he has been working for the Detroit Public Schools. He is currently serving as Dean of Culture at Roberto Clemente Learning Academy.
