About the program: In order to continue improving Detroit Public Schools Community District, we have followed suit with many school districts across the country in implementing a school-based management system with shared decision-making and diverse stakeholder input. School Advisory Councils (SACs) were created to be inclusive and allow for stakeholders to work with principals to build brand, image, engagement, support, culture, school improvement, programming and excellence in each of our schools. Each SAC is required to meet monthly and consist of various internal and external stakeholders who will approve the school's budget and school improvement plan, as well as cover important school matters. Here at Roberto Clemente, our SAC Team includes the Principal and Vice-Principal, Dean of Culture, Attendance Agent (SAC Liaison), School Culture Facilitator, Detroit Federation of Teachers Union Representative, five Teachers, one Master Teacher, four 5th-grade student leaders, one Faith-Based Partner, one parent, MDHHS School Social Worker, and our Parent Action Liaison (PAL). These meetings help put everyone on the same page regarding our school successes and challenges.
How to participate: For interest in joining for next school year, please reach out to Principal Hernandez-Martinez!
