Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Alicia Owens

Mrs. Alicia Owens was born in River Rouge, Michigan. She began her education in Detroit Public Schools, but finished at Ecorse High School, where she graduated with Honors (a member of the National Honor’s Society and top 10 % of her graduating class). After high school, she attended Oakland University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology. Mrs. Owens went on to pursue a career in Education at Wayne State University through a program called “Pathways to Teaching”. She earned a MAT and later her Education Specialist Certificate in Administration. Her teaching career began in Adult Education teaching science, but has since then become an Administrator. Mrs. Owens has been an administrator for the District over 25 years to date.

Mrs. Owens is also the proud parent of two daughters, both of whom attended Detroit Public Schools, and graduated with honors from their high schools. Her daughters have also gone on to graduate from distinguished colleges and universities. As evidenced by her children's and her personal accomplishments, Mrs. Owens holds education as being one the most important aspects of anyone’s life outside of a belief in God.
