Henderson Academy students are exposed to pre-engineering concepts and music technology. This exposure includes solar energy panel design and construction, robotics, building science kits, rocket system design, music technology, Black Girl Coding and other hands-on activities. These activities prepare students for careers in various industries, including manufacturing, engineering, music and computers.
Henderson has a transformative culture where safety and security is our top initiative. The academy has on staff: DPSCD, a Dean of Culture, Culture Facilitators, three parent volunteers, an attendance officer, an assistant Principal.
Henderson has two of the following staff members to meet the students’ needs: psychologists, Social Workers, counselors, occupational therapists and speech therapists. There is also a school nurse available to address medical concerns.
The majority of Henderson’s students meet their academic targets because we have several dynamic partners to assist with academic and social growth. These partners include General Motors, DTE Energy, Oakpoint Church, Body of Christ International Church and Lawrence Institute of Technology. We also have Pathway to Potential sponsored by the Department of Human Services (DHS) along with an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to promote parent engagement.
