Dr. Dedria Willis
Dedria Willis, Ed.D. is starting her 28th year of service with DPS/DPSCD at Erma Henderson PK-8th Grade Academy, beginning the 2020-2021 school year. Dr. Willis has worked as a substitute teacher, student teacher, curriculum/department leader, assistant principal, acting principal, and principal since 1993. Schools where she has been assigned are: Cooley High, Denby High, Southeastern High, Fredrick Douglass Academy for Young Men High, Durfee, and Foch. Her last assignment, prior to coming to Henderson, was Adult Education-West, where she was principal for eight years.
Dr. Willis' areas of state certification are: Social Studies, Business Education, Computer Science, Career and Technical Education, and School Administration. In 2017, Dr. Willis earned a Doctorate of Education Degree from Wayne State University-College of Curriculum and Instruction.
The mom of one teenaged daughter and a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Dr. Willis loves to travel, bowl, walk, swim, hula hoop, and sing. In five to eight years, Dr. Willis will retire and become a professional singer or radio DJ. You will see why when you work with her! As a youth leader of her church, Dr. Willis loves the youth and her philosophy is every child has the potential to learn something positive and new each day and it's never too late, to learn-"be lifelong learners."
