All About Charles R. Drew Transition Center 9600 Wyoming Avenue Detroit 48204
Welcome to the Charles R. Drew Transition Center, a special place where young adults with unique needs can thrive and prepare for the future. Located in the heart of the Detroit Public Schools Community District, our school is housed in the renovated Drew Middle School, providing a welcoming and modern environment for approximately 600 students. Here, we focus on supporting students ages 18-26 with a range of special needs, including cognitive, visual, hearing, and physical impairments, and autism.
Our vision at the Charles R. Drew Transition Center is clear: we're here to help every student reach their full potential and succeed in life. Through personalized instruction and practical skills training, we empower our students to gain the vocational and daily living skills they need to find meaningful employment and fully participate in their communities. Our school is a unique post-secondary vocational center, offering a range of services to ensure that every student has access to an age-appropriate learning environment. We believe in the power of real-world connections and authentic life training to prepare our students for the world of work and help them become productive citizens with the skills to enhance their quality of life. Join us at the Charles R. Drew Transition Center, where every student's journey is supported and celebrated.
