Mr. Robert Avedisian
Robert is a graduate of the Detroit Public Schools, Cody High School. He completed his education at Wayne State University earning his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ed. Specialist. He was one of the first people to complete a pilot program on transition planning at Wayne State University. He has been involved with transition programming since 1993. He has sat on many of the transition committees for both Wayne RESA and Michigan Department of Education. He believes in the power of a good transition plan and is committed to strengthening relationships with students, families, community, and partnering agencies. He has been Principal of the Charles R. Drew Transition Center since 2010. He was awarded Michigan PTA Administrator of the Year in 2011. He has also been twice recognized as Wayne RESA’s Special Educator for making contributions to the lives of people with disabilities. He is committed to enhancing outcomes for all students who attend the center. Bob considers it an honor and privilege to service the students and families of the Detroit Public Schools. His hope is to create an urban model for transition that will benefit all students with disabilities.
