DPSCD believes that our parent's involvement in their child's education is key to high academic performance and school improvement. With that, the Parent Academy offers our parents FREE and CONVENIENT classes providing our parents with the tools and skiils to build parent's confidence and capacity in supporting our students academically, socially, emotionally and overall healthy development of the entire family.
Paent Academy is centered on three pillars:
- Student Acheivement - Workshops and activities that provide strategies and tools for parents to support academic achievement at home and in school
- Personal and Professional Development - Workshops that build confidence while addressing basic needs, employment, family support, financial literacy and goal setting for the healthy development of familes
- Parenting Advocacy - Workshops for parents and caregivers to increase their effectiveness inadvocating and leading on behalf of children
If you are interested in attending a workshop, please visit our school's office for a catalog or review the Parent Academy Fall 2019 Course Catalog online to register for courses. Courses are designed for parents, caregivers, and community members. Participants are not required to have a child in DPSCD. Our parents that have DPSCD children are more than welcome to bring their children to the workshops, if appropriate. Courses listed in the catalog are subject to change.
