Mr. Geoghegan

I am often asked by students why I became a teacher. I respond by saying I believe in people and I believe that we should be given a chance to succeed in life. I learned this belief from my father who was a Marine wounded in the Vietnam War. He felt that everyone should have a chance to succeed and not be forced into the Marines as he was. Since the Vietnam War, he has spent his life living by the words of “Do No Harm”. As a boy, he would ask me every day after school how I made the world better. The words of my father echo in my ears each night as I ask myself, did I make the world better? I began my career in education in the spring of 1999 as an after-school tutor in Morrisville, New York. Since then, I have taught students from 5th through 12th grades across a variety of subjects in New York City and Detroit. As an administrator, I am honored to serve the children of Detroit.
