Mr. Olafioye

Greetings! My name is Jovan Olafioye, and I am excited to join the team as the new Dean of Culture here at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary-Middle School. With a passion for student development, discipline, and fostering a positive school environment, I am eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of our school community.

Before coming to Bethune, I served as the Dean of Behavior at Ecorse High School, where I had the privilege of working closely with students and staff to build a culture of respect, accountability, and excellence. In my role, I successfully implemented programs that helped to decrease behavioral issues and increase student engagement. I firmly believe that when students are held to high expectations in a supportive environment, they rise to meet them.

In addition to my work in behavior and culture, I am also deeply passionate about coaching football. Over the years, I have had the honor of coaching student-athletes, teaching them not only the game of football but also important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, and perseverance. My coaching experience has provided me with unique insights into motivating students, understanding their individual strengths, and helping them work together as part of a cohesive team. I am proud of the success we achieved at Ecorse, both on and off the field, where we built a culture of winning, dedication, and mutual respect.

I believe in leading with empathy, holding students to a high standard, and working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the community to create an environment where every student can thrive. I am excited to help cultivate a positive and inclusive culture here at Bethune and look forward to working with students, families, and staff to make this a place where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
Let’s work together to make this year the best one yet!

Educationally,

Jovan E. Olafioye
