Ms. Andrea Hollingshed
“Greetings” from Ms. Andrea R. Hollingshed. This is my 2nd year at Edison Elementary School serving as a School Counselor. I am a proud educator of 28 years in this school district. During that time, I’ve worked as a teacher and school counselor. Professionally, I want to assist students with addressing social-emotional challenges and guide them in developing healthy mindsets and behaviors to succeed in school and life. My motto is “EXPECTATION + PREPARATION = OPPORTUNITY”. Joining a staff (admin & teachers) that has high expectations for our students is a blessing. Together with the collaboration of parents and teachers working equally as hard to prepare our students, we will create future opportunities beyond ABCs & 123s.
I am a Family-First kind of individual who absolutely adores children. Mother of 3 adult children & “Grandy” to countless children keeps me working with young people at work, home, church, and in the greater Detroit area. These out-of-school roles - Cub Master, Adventurer Leader, Youth Ministry Leader, and Tutor-Queen keep me busy investing in the lives of children. At Edison Elementary, I want to cultivate an educationally sound and safe “Community-Family Atmosphere” through intentional programming with Expect-Respect initiatives, mentoring, peer support, conflict resolution, and anger management programs. In doing so, it can only aid in improving the climate/culture that promotes the growth of the whole child. It warms my heart to see our students blossom or grow moving toward the mark of excellence.
