About the Assistant Principal

Ms. Omega Mostyn
Mrs. Omega Mostyn has been a champion for student learning for over twenty-five years. She has earned a M.Ed. degree in Educational Leadership and a BA degree in Vocal Music Education from Wayne State University. Mrs. Mostyn taught vocal music education in the Detroit Public School District for five years. Her leadership training through the Yale School Development Program and assignment as a Comer School Facilitator, and sixteen years’ experience as both a charter school and traditional K-8 principal has fostered her skill development to encompass an array of academic areas. Ms. Mostyn’s strengths include improving school culture and climate to facilitate student-centered learning; monitoring and improving student and teacher growth; establishing viable professional learning communities; and data driven instruction.
Currently, Ms. Mostyn serves as the Assistant Principal at the Detroit International Academy for Young Women where her current goal is to assist leadership in enhancing the school’s learning environment to improve academic achievement and success for all students.
