Mr. J. Pollard is a dedicated and passionate educator at Gardner Elementary, currently teaching 4th grade. An Army veteran, he brings discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of service to his work with students. He earned his degrees from the University of Michigan and is currently pursuing a doctorate in psychology, reflecting his commitment to understanding and supporting the social and emotional growth of his students. With over five years of teaching experience and now in his second year at Gardner, Mr. Pollard also serves as a PBIS co-coach, helping to create a positive and inclusive school environment. He is deeply committed to building strong relationships with both students and parents, ensuring that every child knows they are valued, supported, and capable of achieving their best. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Pollard enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and exploring new experiences. His dedication, warmth, and enthusiasm make him a valued member of the Gardner Elementary community.
Ms. Slade is a dedicated 4th grade teacher at Gardner Elementary with over 10 years of teaching experience. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and earned her teaching degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. As the oldest of four siblings, Ms. Slade values family and brings a nurturing, supportive approach to her classroom, ensuring that every student feels seen and encouraged. Throughout her career, Ms. Slade has been passionate about creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences that foster both academic growth and social-emotional development. She believes in building strong relationships with her students, inspiring them to take risks, ask questions, and develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Slade enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and exploring activities that allow her to recharge and bring fresh energy to her teaching. Her commitment, enthusiasm, and care make her a valued member of the Gardner Elementary community.
