Welcome! – ¡Bienvenidos! – !مرحباً to Munger Elementary-Middle School, a gem of southwest Detroit. Munger has served as a model school consistently showing growth. However, academic growth is not our only brag. Our school’s diversity comes with a sense of belonging. We believe in inspiring creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking to build lifelong learners. We believe in and celebrate the potential of our students and helping each child reach their full potential is our number one goal. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment where our learners thrive under our dedicated educators, we ensure each student receives the unique attention and support needed to succeed.

At Munger, we believe in seamlessly integrating academics with community engagement to create a holistic educational experience that empowers students to excel while making meaningful contributions to their local community. With one-to-one technology, students are immersed in opportunities to develop skills that will enhance learning and are vital throughout adulthood. Students are given the opportunity to be elected as student leaders in our school through student government to share ideas and concerns, and build life skills. Electives include Gym, Dance, Art, Social Studies Enrichment, and Math Essentials. Newcomers are welcomed and supported with daily ESL classes for all grade levels. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities. After-school activities include basketball, volleyball (District champs three years running), soccer, chess, cheerleading, academic games, and DTE-STEM. Organizations that support our school include Henry Ford Medical Services, Saint Stephen’s Church, Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Healthy Schools, Healthy Communities, Reading Corp, and Tutor-Mate.
