• STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT/DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES

The following discipline guidelines have been developed in accordance with the Detroit Public Schools Community District-Student Code of Conduct and represent an age-appropriate interpretation of expected behavior for all students at Emma Munger Elementary Middle School.  Our kindergarten students will follow guidelines more specific to their individual classrooms/teachers, based on developmental needs. There is a clear understanding at Munger School that our children are learning and growing in leaps and bounds through their formative years. With that in mind, the Munger School staff will focus on modeling and complimenting children for positive behaviors through our Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) Program. In the event this kind of reinforcement does not create positive results, we have established guidelines of rules and consequences for Munger School.

The Munger School staff and administrators will work together to help all students through the use of these discipline guidelines. Administrative discretion may be used in determining the appropriate disciplining of a student. Inappropriate behavior may also affect student privileges during the school year (ex. Class Trips, Field Day, etc.). These decisions are subject to approval by building administration.
