On Thursday, May 25th 2023, 5th grade scholars at Mann participated in a Day of Service. During this day, scholars shadowed admin, teachers and staff at Mann. Scholars worked as assistants and got a peek behind the scenes of the school building. Some of the staff shadowed included Principal Simpson and AP Johnston, students helped in the main office and even with Security Officer Perkins.

Overall this was a wonderful day for all involved. Fifth grade teacher Ms. Spears organized and facilitated an impactful and powerful day for students and staff alike. Scholars reported knowing so much more about the workings of the school and what it takes to make the building run smoothly. As the oldest in the building, 5th grade scholars are not just preparing to transition to middle school but they are also preparing for their post-secondary experiences and opportunities and the Day of Service allows them an opportunity to gain early experience and give back to their school community.
