Instructional Day Start Time
The instructional day at Mann Learning Community begins when the children arrive in their classrooms, no later than 8:30 a.m. Teachers will be preparing children for a successful school day as soon as they enter their classrooms. Children arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be marked tardy. Students arriving late to class on a consistent basis will be unable to fully benefit from morning routines preparing for academic excellence.
Dismissal Procedures
The instructional day at Mann Learning Community ends at 3:40 p.m. All students will be dismissed as either bus riders or walkers beginning at 3:40 p.m. Bus riders will be picked up from their classrooms.
Students who walk home will be dismissed from the following locations:
PreK- Kindergarten- Door 1 on Auburn.
1st-2nd Grade- Door 2 on Elmira
3rd-5th Grade- Door 3 on Elmira
Early Dismissal log book is housed in the school office. Parents or any documented adults must sign their children out from the office if the child needs to be dismissed before 3:40 p.m. Frequent classroom interruptions interfere with the children’s end-of-the-day transition activities. Parents are asked to assist with dismissal procedures by making certain that the school office is clear about dismissal plans before taking a child from class. Please review these arrival and dismissal procedures with your children. The procedures have been designed to ensure the safety of all students at our school.
Visitors
All parents and other visitors entering the school must report to the office and sign in. Anyone who has an appointment to meet with a teacher or visit another area of the school will be given a "visitor" pass. Anyone in the school building without a pass should expect to be approached and questioned. These guidelines are designed to assist us in providing a safe and orderly school environment.
Mann Learning Community encourages parent participation and involvement in our school and programs. All volunteers must have a clearance from Detroit Public Schools Community District Main Office. These measures are intended to ensure the safety and security of the school community, not to limit parent involvement in our school.
