Welcome

    Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

    Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope you have had an awesome summer! I am very excited about beginning my first full year as the principal of Bunche Preparatory Academy. I thank you for entrusting us with your child(ren) and I assure you that we will meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of each of our students.

    Covid-19 has created uncertain times and I want you to know that at Bunche Preparatory Academy we will implement stringent protocols to ensure the safety of our staff and students. Among these protocols are:

    · All staff and students must wear a mask/face covering in the building.

    · Students and staff will complete weekly Covid-19 saliva testing. (You will be asked to sign a waiver giving your child permission to test.)

    · All classroom and lunchroom seating will be 3 ft. apart.

    · Person protection equipment (hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, masks, etc.) is readily available throughout the building

    As we return to face-to-face instruction, attendance will be one of our top priorities. Did you know that if you child misses 10% of school days, they are considered chronically absent according to the state of Michigan? That means if your child misses 3 days of school by November 7, 2021, they will be identified as at-risk for chronic absenteeism. Were are here for you! If your family is experiencing hardships that may impact attendance, please let us know so we can provide support by connecting you to the many resources we have.

    Another priority this year is increased parent involvement. We would like to have you as part of our School Advisory Council, Parent Teacher Association, and other initiatives. To stay in the know, please visit us on our website www.detroitk12.org/Bunche, on our Bunche Preparatory Academy Facebook page, and @RalphBunchePrep.

    We are happy to that your are a part of our school family and encourage you to contact our main office for more information or questions you may have. We are looking forward to a strong partnership.

    Sincerely,
    Chalena Beasley
    Principal
