About Keidan Special Education Center
-
Keidan Special Education Center is a school for students ages 3-13. We service students with Moderate Cognitive Impairments (MoCI), Severe Cognitive Impairments (SCI), Severe Multiple Impairments (SXI), and students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We also have a classroom for students with a dual diagnosis of Emotional Impairment (EI) and Cognitive Impariment (CI) that we call our DD classroom.
Our building is considered to be center-based, in that, we offer comprehensive educational programs, therapeutic services (occupational, physical, and speech) as well as social, psychological, and nursing services for our exceptional students. Our instructional focus is predicated on the goals ad objectives outlined in each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). This allows our staff to tailor lessons to meet our students' different learning modalities. Keidan students have an opportunity to participate in Community-Based Instruction (CBI), Music Therapy, Adaptive Physical Education, Art, and Special Olympics as well as attend age and grade appropriate school field trips that are sponsored for all DPSCD students.
All services are provided in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state regulations.
