Ms. Bowen, School Counselor

Office hours will be held virtually, weekly for students to drop into speak with counselor. The counselor will address social emotional, academic, career and other concerns. Hours are Wednesday 1-2pm.

Mrs. Bowen Lucas

Hello, my name is Sarah Bowen- Lucas. This is my 4th year doing what I love, school counseling at Mason Academy (Detroit Public Schools Community District).

– Go Maltese Tigers!!!

I was born and raised in Detroit, MI, on the westside. I attended Detroit Public Schools for much of my elementary school career and thereafter (a fact I am extremely proud of). I have two children, Katelynn, and John. Kate loves anything artsy/ crafty, singing and writing. John loves sports, math, and sharks. I enjoy jogging, yoga and reading.

I graduated from the University of Michigan Dearborn in 2009 with a Bachelor’s in Behavioral Science. Later I attended Wayne State University and earned my Master’s in Counseling Education in 2017. I am a Licensed School Counselor (MI). I love helping students with social/ emotional skills/, academic/ career planning and personal goals/ concerns.

I look forward to many years of guiding the exceptional minds of the students I interact with daily at Mason Academy.
