Recognized for their partnership with GIS pathway programs, designed for students in grades 9-12. Students learn how to build maps, fly drones and perform geographic analysis. Teacher Spotlight: As the 2023 First Tech Challenge World Championship Compass Award Finalist. We Congratulate Coach Leon Pryor of Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School FLICS., who for the first time in Detroit Public Schools Community District DPSCD history led FLICS middle school robotics team to the International 2023 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Championship. Competing against 59 countries and over 18,000 students, Coach Pryor was runner up as a Compass Finalist. The Compass Award is recognized by coaches who support their teams and provide outstanding leadership throughout the year. District News: The Office of STEM Enrichment is excited to announce that this year's STEM Awards are at Mumford High School Thursday, June 1 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. We will celebrate DPSCD student achievement in the areas of Academic Games, Chess, Robotics, Math Bee, Science Fair, Destination Imagination, Coaches and 3 for 3, and Principal Awards. District News: DPSCD gives its young learners a strong foundation for the future through PreK and Kindergarten education. This spring, DPSCD is celebrating more than 1,700 PreK students moving up to kindergarten!
