Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Back to School Expo is Saturday, August 6, 2022. This year’s Back to School Expo is an all-school’s open house in partnership with ARISE Detroit!  The community is encouraged to sign up to beautify a school, while DPSCD families are encouraged to visit your community school to enroll, pick up valuable resources, learn about academic and extracurricular activities as well as enjoy fun activities. This Week’s Parent Academy Workshops: Need assistance with enrolling your student in a DPSCD school? Attend Parent Academy’s Guide to Enrolling workshop on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. We can’t wait to see your child in a DPSCD school this fall. Also, DPSCD parents and families don’t fight stress alone. De-stress with meditation and yoga this week, during Parent Academy’s Wellness Wednesday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at Adult Education West 16164 Asbury Park, Detroit, 48224.  

Summer on the Block This Week: Students and families join us for Summer on the Block festivities Thursday, July 21, 2022, at: Southeastern High School 12 p.m.-2 p.m. and Thirkell Elementary-Middle School 1 p.m.-3 p.m. There will be free food, Detroit Tigers tickets, books as well as enrollment support, games, and other family-centered fun activities. See you on the Block this week!  

Save the Date the DPSCD All Classifications Hiring Fair, Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Now is the time for you to do your part to help students rise! Exciting roles are available, please share and register for the fair at Denby High School, 12800 Kelly Road from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Click the hyperlink for more information. 

Get the Vax Before School Starts on August 29, 2022: In conjunction with the Detroit Health Department (DHD), DPSCD families can get the COVID-19 vaccination and booster at DHD’s 100 Mack location. Schedule your appointment by calling (313) 230-0505. A parent or guardian must accompany children ages 5-17 to their appointment and sign a consent form.
