Mr. Louis Carter
Mr. Carter is a native of Detroit and a graduate of Pershing High School in the class of 1993. As a high school student, he realized that he was born to impact the lives of children through education. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Ashland University in 1998. In 2010, Mr. Carter attended Wayne State University where he earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He taught in the Detroit Public Community School District for 18 years and later became an Academic Engagement Administrator for one year. Mr. Carter is the assistant principal at Thurgood Marshall Elementary/Middle School. His educational philosophy is simple but profound, so that all children have the capacity to learn. Mr. Carter often says that we do not have bad children. However, we may encounter students dealing with a bad situation. His goal in life is to positively impact children and to show them that the path of education can break any boundaries. Mr. Carter believes that knowledge is the key to a brighter future.
