Ms. Andrea Kelley

Assistant Principal Andrea Kelley is a seasoned educator with a profound commitment to advancing urban education and driving school improvement. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, she holds a Bachelor of Science in English, American Language, and Literature, as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, equipping her with a robust foundation in both pedagogy and stewardship.

With over twenty-three years of dedicated service in education, including eighteen years with the Detroit Public Schools Community District, Ms. Kelley has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to student success and school transformation. Her professional journey encompasses a diverse array of roles, such as teacher, mentor, academic dean, assistant principal, and co-founder of a small high school. These roles have enabled her to refine her expertise in driving high student achievement and fostering a culture of excellence.

Ms. Kelley is deeply committed to the principles of educational equity. She believes in the power of data-driven decision-making and is adept at implementing evidence-based instructional practices that yield measurable improvements in student outcomes.

Guided by the philosophy that all students are capable of learning and thriving, Ms. Kelley prioritizes holistic education that meets students where they are and propels them forward. We are excited to welcome Ms. Kelley to the Thurgood Marshall team and look forward to working with her for the 2024-2025 school year.
