Dr. Taneia Giles

Dr. Taneia L. Giles brings over 20 years of experience as a dedicated educator and leader to her role as Assistant Principal at John R. King Academic and Performing Arts Academy. With a deep commitment to equity, academic achievement, and whole-child development, Dr. Giles is passionate about creating inclusive and high-performing school communities.

Her journey in education began as an elementary classroom teacher, where she taught grades 1, 2, and 4 for sixteen years. She later served as a Lead Teacher, Assistant Principal,  and most recently as Principal at Pattengill Elementary School in the Ann Arbor Public Schools District, where she led school-wide initiatives to strengthen academic outcomes, foster staff development, and build strong family and community partnerships.

Dr. Giles holds a Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University, as well as dual Master’s Degrees in educational administration and counseling, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Her background as both an instructional leader and licensed professional counselor reflects her holistic approach to student and staff success.

Dr. Giles has three adult children, and she is the Gigi to her grandson Jonathan. She enjoys reading, shopping and traveling.

At John R. King, Dr. Giles is focused on supporting high-quality instruction, promoting culturally responsive practices, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment where all students can thrive. She is honored to serve the vibrant John R. King community and is committed to collaborative leadership that uplifts every learner.
