Mrs. Nicole Samuel

Mrs. Nicole Samuel is the Assistant Principal of John R. King Academics and Performing Arts Academy.  She is passionate about educating students within DPSCD. She attended college at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology.  Later she attended Wayne State University, where she earned her Masters in the Art of Teaching. Vice Principal Samuel taught for 15 years. During her years as a teacher, she taught elementary self-contained and science to grades 3-8.   Vice Principal Samuels passion for education inspired her to pursue her National Board Certification, which she completed in 2007. She has been a mentor for new teachers as well as a certified Candidate Support Provider for national board candidates.    She attended Wayne State University where she earned her certification in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011 and, Administration and Supervision K-12 in 2014.

Vice Principal Samuel ia a hands-on leader who values feedback and works continuously to develop strategies that focus on improving attendance, teaching and learning, positive school culture, family needs, parental involvement, individual student support and interventions.  She enjoys partnering with the community and developing programs and events that are encouraging and engaging to our students.

She is excited to be a part of the leadership team as well as working with the students, staff, and the amazing community who make John R. King Academic and Performing Arts Academy a great school.
