Dads & Daughters Dance
When we host a Daddy & Daughter Dance at Coleman A. Young, our young ladies can spend an evening of fun and music with their father-person dancing and playing games, and eating! It is an awesome and wonderful thing to see familes having good fun together!
Holiday Activities

Halloween Spooktacular
Students can celebrate Halloween in a safe and fun environment by trick or treating around the school. Teachers had out candy, everyone dresses up, and lots of memories are made.

Christmas
Children enjoy the holiday season with fun holiday activities, holiday-themed work, parties with music, treats, and dancing, and more!
School Events

Spelling Bee
Students participate in a classroom and school-wide spelling bee. Classroom spelling bees will take place at the end of December and the school-wide spelling bee will take place in January. Ask your teacher for a list of spelling words to practice and prepare to bee amazing!

Academic Games
Students compete in Math and Spelling Bees!
CAY will be having a Math Bee. 1st and 2nd graders will compete using addition and subtraction. 3rd through 5th multiplication and division.

Wax Museum
Students dress up as figures from Black History, take up positions in the hall, and then they recite a short bio about their historical person when you press a play button.
Black History Month: Wax Museum Project 2025
Students choose an African-American figure they would like to be. They prepare a one-paragraph report, a 1-2 minute speech, and dress up as their figure.
